Dr. Sian James is licensed in acupuncture and massage therapy in the states of Connecticut, New York & Pennsylvania. She completed her graduate and doctorate studies at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine located in New York City and San Diego. She completed her Masters of Science in Chinese Herbology in Connecticut at the University of Bridgeport’s Acupuncture Institute. Dr. James pledges herself towards the lifelong commitment of mastering complementary & alternative medicine and offering this powerful art and science of holistic healing. She is board certified by the NCCAOM, NCBTMB, and by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association as an acu detox specialist. Certified in facial rejuvenation acupuncture, Dr. James offers the benefits of natural anti-aging.

Dr. James is an essential oils enthusiast and has studied extensively with Peter Holmes LAc, giving her an understanding of the therapeutic application of essential oils in Chinese Medicine. She performs traditional massage therapy modalities such as Swedish, deep tissue, pregnancy, hot stone, and reflexology and has expanded her bodywork abilities to include vibrational sound massage and ashiatsu massage. She is a Vibrational Sound Association Certified Sound Therapist and has trained with Sage Academy for Sound with Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux at Ananda Ashram. Dr. James is a DeepFeet® Certified Ashiatsu practitioner.

Dr. James began her healthcare journey as a Nationally Certified Recreation Therapist, having received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation & Leisure, with a minor in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. She has 10 years of experience working with the Alzheimer’s and geriatric population; It was in this environment where she recognized that prevention is better than cure. She completed her clinical massage therapy program at Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Westport, CT.  She studied Kripalu Yoga at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Wellness, and is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher. As a 200-hour registered Kripalu Yoga teacher she blends the elements of breathing, mindfulness, and movement therapy into her treatment sessions where appropriate.

Dr. James is a Trinidadian native who immigrated at age two to New England where she currently resides in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Her interest in international outreach has led Dr. James to complete a volunteer mission in April 2016 with The Integrative Health Project in Guatemala, providing acupuncture in addition to diabetes and hypertension health screenings to Mayan locals. Future research and specialty interests of Dr. James spans from psycho-emotional disorders, autism, addiction, autoimmune diseases, endocrine disorders, dermatological disorders, HIV/AIDS, Lyme disease and cancer. Her vision is to integrate Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine as an effective adjunctive medicine.
