DR. SIAN JAMES

Dr. Sian James is a licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist in the states of Connecticut and New York. She completed her doctorate and graduate studies at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City and San Diego, and earned her Master of Science in Chinese Herbology at the University of Bridgeport’s Acupuncture Institute. She is board certified by the NCCAOM, NCBTMB, and by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association as an Acu Detox Specialist. Certified in facial rejuvenation acupuncture, Dr. James offers the benefits of natural anti-aging as part of her comprehensive care approach.
Alongside her private practice at AcuBlend, Dr. James has also provided as a contractor integrative medicine services at Silver Hill Hospital and the Nuvance Health system at Norwalk Hospital’s Integrative Medicine Program. These roles have deepened her expertise in integrative care for complex health conditions, ranging from oncology support to mental health. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. James curates care for a select group of VIP clients both on site at AcuBlend and through exclusive off-site engagements, offering highly personalized concierge services.
Dr. James is an essential oils enthusiast, having studied extensively with Peter Holmes, LAc, and integrates the therapeutic applications of essential oils into Chinese Medicine. She performs traditional massage therapy modalities such as Swedish, deep tissue, pregnancy, hot stone, and reflexology, and has expanded her expertise to include vibrational sound massage and ashiatsu massage. She is a Vibrational Sound Association Certified Sound Therapist, trained with Sage Academy for Sound under Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux at Ananda Ashram. Dr. James is also a DeepFeet® Certified Ashiatsu, Ashi Thai & Ashi Silks Practitioner, and currently a Sarga Bodywork practitioner in training.
Her healthcare journey began as a Nationally Certified Recreation Therapist, holding a Bachelor of Science in Recreation & Leisure with a minor in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. She spent 10 years serving the Alzheimer’s and geriatric population, where she developed a commitment to prevention-based healthcare. She later completed her clinical massage therapy program at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Westport, CT, before advancing into acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and integrative wellness.
A lifelong learner, Dr. James also studied Kripalu Yoga at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Wellness and is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher. As a 200-hour Kripalu-certified instructor, she blends breath, mindfulness, and movement therapy into her treatment sessions where appropriate.
A Trinidadian native who immigrated to New England at age two, Dr. James resides in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Her interest in international outreach led her to volunteer in Guatemala with The Integrative Health Project, where she provided acupuncture as well as diabetes and hypertension screenings to Mayan locals.
Her ongoing research and specialty interests span psycho-emotional disorders, autism, addiction, autoimmune diseases, endocrine disorders, dermatological conditions, HIV/AIDS, Lyme disease, and cancer. Her vision is to expand access to acupuncture and Chinese medicine as effective adjunctive care, bridging holistic traditions with modern healthcare. Through her national and international retreats, Dr. James creates immersive wellness experiences that integrate acupuncture, bodywork, herbal medicine, yoga, and sound therapy, offering participants the opportunity to reset, restore, and align on a deeper level.
