DACM, LAC, LMT, RYT

Dr. Sian James is a licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist in the states of Connecticut and New York. She completed her doctorate and graduate studies at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City and San Diego, and earned her Master of Science in Chinese Herbology at the University of Bridgeport’s Acupuncture Institute. She is board certified by the NCCAOM, NCBTMB, and by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association as an Acu Detox Specialist. Certified in facial rejuvenation acupuncture, Dr. James offers the benefits of natural regenerative aging as part of her comprehensive care approach.

Alongside her private practice at AcuBlend, Dr. James has provided integrative medicine services as a contractor within hospital-based settings, including Silver Hill Hospital and the Nuvance Health system through Norwalk Hospital’s Integrative Medicine Program. These roles expanded her experience caring for patients with complex medical and psycho-emotional conditions, including those undergoing oncology treatment and individuals receiving mental health care.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. James works with a limited number of clients through highly individualized care models, both within her practice and through select off-site engagements. Her work emphasizes continuity of care, clinical discretion, and personalized treatment planning.

Dr. James’ healthcare career began as a nationally certified recreation therapist. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a minor in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University and spent a decade working with geriatric and Alzheimer’s populations. This early work shaped her interest in prevention-focused, patient-centered healthcare and informed her later clinical training in massage therapy, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine.

She remains deeply committed to lifelong learning and interdisciplinary study, with additional training in movement-based and mindfulness-informed approaches that support nervous system regulation and rehabilitation when clinically appropriate.

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago and raised in New England, Dr. James is based in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Her interest in global health has included volunteer work in Guatemala with The Integrative Health Project, where she participated in community-based care initiatives focused on chronic disease screening and supportive therapies. Beyond private practice, Dr. Sian James is actively engaged in community wellness initiatives. She volunteers with Self Care For Recovery, supporting individuals in recovery from substance use and serves underserved populations through her nonprofit organization, Points 4 The People, expanding access to holistic and integrative care.

Dr. James’ clinical and research interests include psycho-emotional health, pain and nervous system regulation, autoimmune and endocrine disorders, dermatologic conditions, infectious disease, and cancer-related care. She is particularly interested in how traditional medical systems can function as thoughtful adjuncts within modern healthcare frameworks.
